It's not necessarily worse or inferior, but it doesn't replace the ultimately different tone and spirit of the original Eureka Seven.
#Eureka seven ao renton series
I guess what I mean is that while both TV series are respectable and enjoyable, Astral Ocean can never be enough on its own to me. I'm not offended by that, and I am personally far less fond of series that regurgitate similar events repeatedly. The 24+ episodes of AO don't necessarily achieve this in the same fashion-rather, there was likely no intention of ever having Astral Ocean emulate the first show. The story allowed for growth of not only Renton but Eureka, the cast of the GekkoState and even antagonists in the story too. Out of it emerges a beautiful young girl, our main female character, Eureka. One day, a huge robot (an LFO) crashes in his grand-father, Alexs workshop. Eureka Seven had a vastly different premise it was a mecha, but felt like much more than that. Eureka Seven starts with our main male character, Renton aged 14 in his hometown of Bellforest, enjoying his life, albeit 14 years of boredom as he mentions. One thing I would say to conclude my thoughts is that while Astral Ocean does seem to make great strides to respect its original series and its former leads, it is frankly not a replacement to the original. This last extra "episode" is where Astral Ocean does seem to supersede its former series in one aspect-unlike the first Eureka Seven, we actually do get a real, complete resolution to the story that is told in Astral Ocean, as bittersweet as it may be. I have to admit that seeing episode 24 didn't give me a lot of excitement but learning that there actually was more than that to the story changed that feeling. And then there are the animation and soundtrack aspects, which are even better than the original TV series in most regards. Seeing how Renton dealt with tragedy yet still stayed true to himself and his family surprised me. Seeing Eureka appear again for real was exciting for me. The series has a good premise and contrary to what I was told, pays good respect to its original. Even if he was super naive, especially in the beginning, he was consistent and pure. Honestly, he's a solid character, even if imperfect due to how he always took responsibility for events that even he had no control over. While certain episodes were absurd and there was one or two characters that annoyed me, one of things about Astral Ocean with me was that I kept wanting to see what was going to happen with Ao. After viewing it, I believe that I would be lying to myself if I said that AO was bad. until recently to watch everything properly. Luckily, at that time, I wasn't much of a fan of the Eureka Seven series as a whole as the only things I'd seen were random episodes caught off adult swim. I was told to never watch after the first series because it was "trash". I don't have any huge hate for it either. Not to mention what ends up happening to AO and Fleur. Kind of wish we would get a continuation of the series in some capacity. Kind of wish we would’ve gotten a more clarified ending though for AO as they ended it with us trying to figure out whether everybody would remember who AO was at the end of the series. Not to mention her English voice actor Sainty Reid had an A+ performance! (I only watch English dub’s btw) I loved her performance as the character and considering this was I believe her debut role and has since gone on to do movies in Netflix doesn’t surprise me in the slightest. She understand what she need to do and her development throughout the series I thought was very well done. My favorite character in the show was Fleur Blanc who what’s the better written character out of everyone. But overall I thought the show was very well done. Granted there are some things I wish we could’ve gotten more of Renton rather than the last 2 episodes and maybe more depth flushed out Eureka involved. But them knowing them as well as Eureka having kids. Her current attire exactly the same as Diane Thurston's from Eureka Seven.I’ll never understand the life of me why people think the show is bad? I though Story was really good incorporating newer characters with the old existing characters but also do a Time apocalypse of AO taking place thousands of years before the event of Eureka Seven. She is one of the main protagonists of the original series, Eureka Seven. As a result of taking Quartz with her to prevent a Scub Burst in 2015, Eureka is currently trapped between timelines. She is a Coralian and the original pilot of both the Nirvash TypeZERO and the RA272 Nirvash.
